Thaks for the pears I won on the Womans Day site. I shared them with my nextdoor neighbor and hope to send them to family next Christmas instead of the Citrus packages we usually send.

I want to thank you as a family--such a rare occurence these days, and so refreshing. Sue and I attended Willamette U (Salem) together, where she was "dorm mother" while in the law school. I was the off-hours RN at the health center, also attending school (this moniker is a pen name). So much "water over the dam" since then, but God IS good--and the consolations have been incredible!

I'd love to hear from her--so pass the messages on, if you will. Thanks again--beautiful website (and yes, I will be buying pears: just not today).

By the way, the problem of "food insecurity" is intense in my home town... there are people actually living in the woods, and all around the town. This is NOT their problem--there are no reasonably-paying jobs for hardly anyone, if they don't qualify to work in the shipyard (and many don't). People seem to forget that the exigencies of being able to work at a "normal job" are many... and due to our medical care-there are many who were "saved" from death and disease, only to be non-functional at real jobs. In Seattle, a person with a master's degree can take up to two years to find a job, if layed-off. So anyone complaining about your giving so much to food banks isn't in touch with the real world.

Wishing the Naumes family much joy and happiness seven fold in return for their generous and wonderful acts of kindness! I LOVE that you give a gift of fruit to a food bank when I order. Thank you so very much for helping others in this way. Pears are my favorite fruit, and I think the best fruit in the world. It is with delight that I will send a box of your beautiful pears as a gift this year, and I will return to your site for gifts through-out the year.

I want to thank the Naumes family and corporation for a very generous donation to the AVID program at our school, Yuba Gardens Intermediate School in Olivehurst, CA. Their donation will allow our students, within that program, to attend field trips to college campus'. The AVID program is designed to help students who will be the first to attend college within their families. It is people like the Naumes that help students reach their dreams. Thank you from Yuba Gardens Intermediate School.

Hi Laura,
We saw the article in the Medford Mail Tribune and I clipped it and sent it to Dana. She was delighted to receive it.

We live on the coast, near Smith River California. We travel to Medford quite a bit and visit our many friends there...or they come here.

We have not made it to the Jazz Festival the last two years but I enjoyed visiting with your mother there. Hope she is well.

John and I will be placing some orders with you.

I worked for a Rogue Valley company and we wanted to give something unusual away during a trade show. During my post office rounds and occasional coffee with Joe Naumes, I mentioned I would like to give away pears at an upcoming trade show in Las Vegas. Would he be able to help me with a few boxes that would be ripe enough to eat. He asked when I would be shipping my equipment and told him in a couple weeks. He said stop by the day before you ship and I'll have the pears ready for you. I picked up the pears and it seemed there was a mistake. They were green as gourds, aka hard as an unripe pear. I called Joe and mentioned what I found and he said, "don't worry they will be ripe in a couple weeks when you arrive in Las Vegas". Voila! I opened the box of pears and started handing them out. They were perfect. Two years later people were still coming by wanting a pear. They remembered how good they were and where they got them. The pears were comice and they were the best eating pears, you'll like 'em.
